Integrated Planning

Integrated Planning

This month, and maybe next too, I will focus my writing on the topic of integrated planning. While strategic planning focuses on the future and how to adapt and operational planning focuses on resourcing actions in the short term, integrated planning looks at how an organization can plan across multiple functions, levels, locations, and other divisions. Integrated planning can be both elusive and hard to define, but many experienced strategy crafters have a keen awareness of when an organization is planning this way. Over the coming weeks, I hope to explore the definition of integrated planning and what some signs and evidence are that it is occurring. Also, I’ll look at the components of integrated planning and uncover ways that we might assess the degree to which it is happening. Finally, I’ll put integrated planning in the context of strategy crafting.
